SFR responded to the parking lot of the Salchaket Roadhouse for a person who was suffering from an allergic reaction from a bee sting. EMTs quickly treated and stabilized the patient, who had a history of severe reaction to bee stings in the past. The crew then transported the patient to FMH without further incident.

SFR responded to a residence near Birch Lake for a person allegedly attempting suicide. EMTs worked closely with Alaska State Troopers to resolve the situation and eventually transported the patient to FMH without incident.

SFR received a tone-out to a Johnson Road residence for a person who was reportedly having stroke-like symptoms. EMTs stabilized the patient and transported to FMH.

SFR was toned out to intercept a vehicle on the Richardson Highway enroute to Fairbanks from Delta. The patient was a pregnant woman who was experiencing severe abdominal pain. On completing the intercept around Mile marker 312, EMTs took the patient into the ambulance, stabilized her, and completed transport to FMH without further incident.

SFR was toned out to assist AST during a rescue operation when an airboat accident at the Salcha River boat ramp dumped 5 people into the icy, swift flowing river. Fortunately, they were all wearing life jackets, and a passing boat quickly reacted and ran downriver to pull the survivors out of the river. SFR provided incident command and met the survivors at the boat ramp. EMTs assessed and treated all 5 on-scene for moderate hypothermia, and transported 4 to FMH for further treatment. A huge thanks to the driver of the rescue boat whose quick reactions prevented a potentially tragic outcome.

SFR was toned out to an ATV accident on Salcha Drive. The driver and passenger were both injured, helmets were not worn. EMTs stabilized and immobilized both patients and utilized both SFR ambulances to effect transport to FMH. The passenger was in critical condition and was subsequently MEDEVACed to Anchorage. Many thanks to the passers-by who stopped to render assistance, especially the army medics who helped package the patients for transport.

SFR was toned out to a motor vehicle accident on the Old Richardson Highway. The driver lost control of the vehicle, departed the gravel road surface and struck a tree. The passenger was not injured, however, the driver was injured. EMTs immobilized and stabilized the patient on-scene, then transported them to FMH without incident.

Both Salcha ambulances and an additional ambulance from North Pole were required for the five injured patients, three who were critical. All were transported to FMH without further incident, however one patient was subsequently air-evacuated to Anchorage for a serious head injury.

SFR was toned out to intercept a person driving their own vehicle from Delta to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital on the Richardson Highway. The person was previously diagnosed with a medical condition that deteriorated and was complicated by respiratory distress during the long drive. The SFR crew contacted the patient near Midway Lodge, transferred them to the ambulance and stabilized the patient enroute to FMH.

SFR was toned out to the Lost Lake Scout Camp for a young person who had a seizure while standing, and subsequently fell and hit their head on the concrete floor. The patient was immobilized and transported to FMH without incident.

Apparently the rough road conditions had irritated the patients condition and intensified the pain to the level that they required ALS pain management intervention. The patient was transferred to an SFR ALS ambulance, the patient was provided medication to relieve the pain, and transport was continued to FMH without further incident.

As SFR responders were parking the ambulance from the previous calls, they were again toned out to a residence on the Richardson Highway for a person who had fallen in their yard outside and could not get up. On assessment it was determined that the patient was suffering from multiple medical problems which had most likely caused the fall. The patient was stabilized and quickly transported to FMH without further incident. It was a busy afternoon for Salcha volunteers!

While still on-scene at the previous 911 call, SFR was again toned out to a motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries on the Richardson Highway near Mile 317. SFR requested and received mutual aid from North Pole FD. SFR also released two EMTs from the previous call to meet with another SFR responder who acted as Incident Command. SFR responders provided triage and initial assessment/treatment until North Pole could arrive with an additional ambulance. The patient was loaded and transported to FMH via a North Pole ambulance/crew. Many thanks to the North Pole crew and the passing motorists who stopped to render assistance.

SFR was toned out to a residence on Country Lane for a person who was having difficulty breathing. The patient was suffering a severe asthma attack, was treated on scene, and recovered. The patient subsequently declined to be transported to hospital and the crew returned to quarters.

SFR was toned out for ALS assistance to Delta Rescue, who were preparing to transfer a patient from the Delta Clinic to FMH. The plan was to meet Salcha responders enroute, however clinic personnel subsequently requested that ALS transport start from the clinic. Unfortunately, SFR is not authorized to respond outside the FNSB boundaries, and recommended to Delta to arrange alternate plans. SFR responders stood down from the call.

SFR responded to a multi-vehicle accident on the Richardson Highway in front of the Salcha Store in one of the worst snow storms in recent history. Three people reported minor injuries. One person suffered a head injury and was unable to open the vehicle door because of crash damage. The door was forced open, the patient was immobilized and extricated from the vehicle, and was transported to FMH without incident. Thank you to all of the people who stopped by to help in the blinding snowstorm, and especially to the dedicated SFR volunteers who responded en masse despite the storm, as usual.
SFR was toned out again to the Salcha Store at 2015 as a result of a call for help by State Troopers. The trooper was concerned when a person from the previous accident who had initially reported no injuries began showing possible delayed signs of injury. On arrival the ambulance crew initially evaluated the patient, but the patient refused further treatment or transport.

SFR responded to a multi-alarm toneout with North Star, Eielson, and North Pole Fire Departments to a two vehicle accident on the Richardson Highway just north of the Eielson AFB interchange. A passenger vehicle rear-ended a snow removal road grader on the southbound lane. The driver of the passenger vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and required technical extrication by Eielson and North Star VFD responders, and was transported to FMH by a North Pole ambulance crew. The driver of the snow removal grader was also injured and required stabilization and extrication from the grader by SFR responders, and was transported to FMH by a SFR ambulance crew. It was an excellent display of teamwork by all responders in the -25F degree ambient temperature with Eielson serving as incident command.

SFR was toned out to a multi-vehicle accident on the Richardson Highway near Munson Slough. Only one person was seriously injured, having a deep cut above the bridge of the nose and bleeding profusely. The patient was immobilized and stabilized on-scene, then quickly transported to FMH for treatment. The ambient temperature on-scene was -43F degrees. Many thanks for all of the folks that stopped to render assistance from patient care, to keeping the patients warm until we got there, to rush hour traffic control..again, you're all awesome!

SFR was toned out to a vehicle accident/rollover at Mile 304 Richardson Highway. The driver was trapped in the vehicle for almost 25 minutes in -30 degree temperatures before being freed by some folks that stopped to help. On arrival the crew found both patients in a passer-by vehicle trying to warm-up. The driver was mildly hypothermic and had an injury to the left knee. The passenger had severe cuts in the right hand. Both patients were quickly stabilized on-scene, and treated enroute to FMH. Thank you so much to the heroes that stopped by to help before we could get there...you're awesome!

Clinic personnel were concerned after a phone conversation with the patient made them belive that someting was wrong. On arrival the ambulance crew found that the patient was in general good health, did not call 911, and declined transport.

SFR and Delta Rescue were toned out to a motor vehicle accident 911 call from a person who wasn't exactly sure where they were on the Richardson Highway, just somewhere between Delta and Salcha. The accident site was eventually located between mile marker 299 and 300. A passerby had spotted the vehicle over a steep embankment and helped the injured person up the hill to their vehicle to get warm. The injured person was apparently ejected from the vehicle during the accident and left sitting in the cold for almost an hour before someone came by and spotted them on the remote strip of highway. As this was in Salcha's response area, SFR continued and intercepted the passerby vehicle that had started making it's way north towards Fairbanks, because the injured person began having difficulty breathing. SFR assessed that the patient was seriously injured, quickly immobilized and stabilized the patient on-scene, and continued transport to FMH without further incident. Many thanks to the folks that stopped to help, the situation could have turned out much worse without them!

The pick-up truck driver was seriously injured and required immobilization prior to being transported to FMH. The driver's pet dog was also injured in the accident. SFR responded to a multi-alarm toneout with Delta and Ft Greeley services to a two vehicle accident in the Snake Canyon Area of the Richardson Highway near mile 302. One person died on-scene and another was seriously injured and trapped in the wreckage. Delta crews were first on-scene and conducted a technical extrication and immobilization of the patient in the minus 25 degree temperature. Salcha crews arrived shortly thereafter and provided patient stabilization and transport to FMH. It was an excellent display of teamwork and a huge thanks to the passing off-duty paramedic and all of the other folks who stopped and provided initial assistance.

SFR responded to a multiple vehicle collision with moose on the Richardson Highway near the south end of the Eielson runway. The first vehicle impacted the wayward moose and was deflected into the trees on the west side of the highway. A second vehicle hit the already damaged moose and also careened into the trees and a utility pole. The driver of the second vehicle suffered only minor bumps/abrasions, was examined and released at the scene. The driver of the first vehicle was more seriously injured and was immobilized, stabilized, and quickly transported to Bassett AMC. On arrival, the crew found a vehicle disabled in a ditch, but no one inside. Subsequently City Dispatch advised that her boyfriend had arrived before us, removed the patient and taken her to an unknown location. AST was notified.

The driver lost control on the icy road, departed the road surface and rolled the crew cab pickup upside down. Fortunately the driver and three passengers were wearing their seatbelts and suffered only minor bumps and abrasions. They declined transport to hospital. A "Big Thanks" to the Aleyeska driver who was able to call 911 for help on the remote stretch of highway and stayed to continue helping until we could arrive.

On arrival at the scene, it was determined that the military had taken control of the incident and declined any further assistance from SFR.

The Tok EMS crew was travelling the Richardson Highway through SFR's service area enroute to FMH with a patient when the rear wheels fell off of their ambulance near Birch Lake. The patient, who was also trapped in the vehicle because the door was damaged; was immobilized, extricated from the vehicle, and then transported to FMH without further incident. SFR was toned out for a motor vehicle accident at Richardson Highway Mile 324, near the Salcha Store. The driver lost control in a heavy rainstorm, departed the road surface and rolled the car upside down. The driver and passenger suffering from various injuries including rib injuries which caused difficulty breathing, and back and neck pain which required immobilization before transport. A "Big Thanks" to the many folks that stopped and helped including those that provided shelter in their own vehicles until we could arrive, those that helped with traffic control and patient care, and to our troopers that helped package and load the patients into the ambulances. We couldn't have done it without you guys! Both ambulances were used, and the patients were transported safely to FMH without incident.

While both of our ambulances and 8 of our volunteers were on their way to FMH with the patients from the previous call, SFR was again toned out to a residence on the Old Richardson Highway for a person who was vomiting blood. 5 additional SFR volunteers responded to the scene in our rescue vehicle to stabilize the patient. Mutual aid was requested from North Pole for an additional ambulance for transport. The patient was turned over to North Pole medics when they arrived, who then made the transport to FMH without incident. It was a busy night for Salcha volunteers!

There were five patients suffering from various injuries from difficulty breathing to possible broken bones to minor bumps and bruises. Both ambulances were required for transport to FMH, which occurred without incident. SFR was toned out to the Richardson Highway near Eielson AFB for an unconscious man in a vehicle on the side of the road. The man apparently was suffering a stroke and was able to safely stop his vehicle before losing consciousness. The patient was quickly loaded and transported to FMH. A big thanks to all the responders from the North Pole Fire Department whose assistance was invaluable in ensuring a safe transport.

SFR was toned out for a boat rescue, reportedly involving 6 boats and 11 people on the Tanana River. Due to heavy rains over the last several days, the Tanana River had swollen significantly and was filled with fresh debris. The squad staged at the Salcha River boat ramp, and launched the SFR airboat and a squadmember's riverboat. Meanwhile, 7 of the boaters made their way to shore and were picked up on the Richardson Highway near Midway Lodge. The airboat team located two other boaters downriver several miles in a remote slough area. They reported that 4 of their group were still stranded on an island in the middle of the river a mile or so back upriver. The riverboat team located the last 4 boaters soon afterwards. Fortunately, none of the boaters were injured or hypothermic, and the last 6 were transported back to the Salcha River boat ramp uneventfully.

SFR responded to a residence on Salcha Drive for a person who was injured in a jet-ski accident on Harding Lake. The patient was suffering from significant leg trauma, was treated and stabilized on scene, then transported to FMH.

Enroute, dispatchers determined that the remote location was actually in the North Star Response Area and toned them out as well. SFR continued the response and provided initial patient assessment, then handed the patient off to North Star responders when they arrived shortly thereafter.

SFR responded to a 911 call to intercept a medical team enroute from Pogo Mine to Fairbanks with a patient on board having chest pain. Patient transfer occurred at Salcha Station 2, and the SFR medical team determined the chest pain was being caused by severe difficulty breathing. The patient was further treated for the breathing problem, stabilized and transported to FMH without incident. Excellent job by the Pogo Mine EMT in stabilizing and extracting the patient from that remote site.

SFR responded a remote area of the Mosquito Creek Logging Area when a person operating a tractor had an accident and was injured. Access to the accident site was hampered by extremely muddy road conditions. Much thanks to the Alaska State Troopers and the Alaska DOT Commercial Enforcement Officers who helped us reach the scene. The seriously injured patient was stabilized and immobilized at the scene, then brought down the mountain via an all-terrain tracked vehicle to an improvised landing zone at the gravel pit near Silver Lakes. The patient was then transferred to an awaiting Evergreen Medevac helicopter and air-transported to FMH without incident. Additional thanks to all the other folks out in the remote logging area who helped out..this was truly a team effort!

SFR responded to an 18-Wheeler Trailer-Truck accident on the Richardson Highway bend at the Birch Lake pull-off. The driver lost control and the big rig rolled on its side as it slid down an embankment and into the trees. The patient suffered minor injuries, was immobilized and stabilized on scene, and transported to FMH. Thank you so much to the folks that stopped and helped comfort the patient until we arrived and continued to help as we packaged and loaded him for trasport. You guys are great!

SFR responded to a motor vehicle accident near mile marker 337 on the Richardson Highway just south of the Eielson AFB Runway. The driver lost control, departed to road surface and impacted a tree at a high rate of speed; which required technical extrication to remove him from the wreckage. The patient suffered numerous injuries to the head, torso and limbs; was stabilized and immobilized at the scene, and then rapidly transported to FMH. A special thanks to all the folks that stopped by the accident scene to offer assistance.

SFR responded to a motor vehicle accident just past mile marker 300 on the Richardson Highway near the southern FNSB border. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled as it departed the highway and pitched into a deep ravine. The patient suffered head injuries, was stabilized and immobilized, and transported to FMH for further treatment. Again our sincerest thanks to the passing motorist who stopped and provided warm shelter until we could arrive.

The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times as it departed to road surface injuring three of the four occupants. Two patients were immobilized at the scene and both SFR ambulances were used to transport all four patients to FMH for further treatment.
